SEP Revalidation in Spain with Clifford Marker – UK CAA & EASA CRI

If your SEP rating is approaching expiry, why not combine your revalidation with some flying in the sunshine?
Clifford Marker, founder of Hour-Building.com, is a qualified Class Rating Instructor (CRI) for both UK CAA and EASA licences, allowing him to conduct the instructional flight required for SEP revalidation by experience for pilots holding either licence system.
Instead of spending a cold, wet day at your local airfield, many pilots choose to complete their revalidation while enjoying the excellent flying weather, quieter airspace and stunning scenery of Southern Spain.
Revalidate Up To 3 Months Early
Many pilots do not realise that SEP ratings can be revalidated up to three months before their expiry date without losing any validity. This means there is no need to leave it until the last minute.
If your rating is due to expire in the next three months, you can complete the required training flight and paperwork during a flying trip to Spain and return home with your licence requirements taken care of.
SEP Revalidation by Experience Requirements
For pilots wishing to revalidate their SEP rating by experience, the following requirements must be completed within the relevant period before expiry:
12 hours total flight time in SEP aircraft.
At least 6 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
12 take-offs and 12 landings.
A minimum 1-hour instructional flight with a Flight Instructor (FI) or Class Rating Instructor (CRI).
If these requirements have been met, the revalidation process is usually straightforward and can be completed during your visit.
If your SEP rating has already expired, renewal requirements will apply instead, and we can advise you on the most efficient route back to currency.
Why Revalidate in Spain?
Southern Spain offers some of the best flying weather in Europe.
With over 300 days of sunshine per year, pilots can spend more time flying and less time waiting for weather cancellations. The region also offers a huge variety of flying opportunities including:
Granada and the Sierra Nevada mountains
The Mediterranean coastline
Gibraltar
Córdoba
Seville
Malaga
The Spanish countryside and reservoirs
Many pilots find that their revalidation flight becomes far more enjoyable when it includes real navigation, unfamiliar airspace and beautiful scenery rather than simply flying circuits around a local airfield.
Turn Your Revalidation Into a Flying Holiday
At Hour-Building.com we regularly welcome pilots from across Europe who combine their SEP revalidation with additional flying.
Whether your goal is to:
Build hours towards a CPL
Prepare for airline selection
Gain confidence touring Europe
Improve navigation skills
Fly in consistently good weather
you can make the most of your trip while completing the instructional requirements for your licence.
Many of our visitors stay for several days or even a week, flying around Spain and enjoying everything Andalusia has to offer when they're not in the air.
UK CAA and EASA Pilots Welcome
Because Clifford Marker holds CRI privileges for both UK CAA and EASA licences, we can assist pilots from across Europe with their revalidation requirements and provide guidance on the correct paperwork and procedures for their licence authority.
Whether you're a UK CAA PPL holder, an EASA PPL holder, or maintain both licences, we can help make the process straightforward and enjoyable.
